CAN BEN STOKES ALL-ROUND PERFORMANCE MAKE ENGLAND LIFT THE CHAMPIONS TROPHY?

True all-rounders do not come by often in cricket. These players can weight a range in the playing XI based purely on batting or bowling skills. There are only a handful of players in the history of cricket who qualifies and can be considered as genuine all-rounders such as legends Ian Botham, Jacques Kallis and Kapil Dev just to name a few.

Today, if you choose any international captain based on their overall performance, chances are high that we will choose England’s Ben Stokes. Stokkes is a dependable batsman with the capability to destroy the best of the best bowling attacks and fast bowler and add to that the ability to clock in the range of about 90 miles per hour, as well as being an agile fieldsman.

Ben Stokes’ playing style has unsurprisingly compared with Andrew Flintoff and Ian Botham, and after a long time of being an under-achiever, a much more experienced and mature player has finally come out of Stokes and gave his talent justice.

Eoin Morgan, England’s limited-overs skipper, commended Stokes for his performance in the current Indian Premier League. He believes that with Stokes skills and ability to perform regardless of numerous big names in Rising Pune Supergiant’s faction will retain him and the whole England camp’s chances good at the all-important upcoming Champions Trophy 2017. The event will be hosted by England and will take place starting June 1 with England taking on Bangladesh. Fans from Canada and European countries can watch Champions Trophy live on YuppTV, with highlights available for UK, Australia and Asian countries, as well as a live audio commentary for USA. England has not bagged any trophy since its launch and will be on the prowl to win their first ever ICC Champions Trophy. Still according to Morgan, Stokes growth in IPL has been an advantage for England and has proven that he can go against the tide with the best players.

If Stokes can keep himself from getting injured and away from any kind of controversies, he definitely has all the factors to go on to be one of England’s all-time greats and lead the team to its first ever ICC Champions Trophy. With experience, increased responsibility and maturity to add on his straightforward attitude, Stokes is set to continue to improve his game and also progress into a world-class all-rounder.
